Description

Would you like to have your students make a difference and do some critical thinking and collaborating as they do so? This project will have them take a close look at ways to spread more kindness and acceptance in the world as they reflect, write, view, speak, listen and learn.

Our students are part of a generation that is much more tolerant than previous ones, but are they more accepting? With this activitiy students examine the difference between tolerance and acceptance and at the reasons why we may be intolerant of others. They will begin by creating a class code of conduct for discussions, so everyone in the room will feel comfortable sharing their views and experiences. Then, students will work through a series of reflections and discussions that will hopefully lead them to a new understanding of why we treat others as we do. Finally, they will work in groups to create a project that will spread some kindness in their school and/or community.

This product includes:

-A slideshow to guide your discussion
-Student handouts and graphic organizers
-Links to some engaging & thought-provoking videos
-An editable rubric for the final project
-Posters that you can display in your classroom
