This activity packet focuses on characterization. Your students will characterize two of the main characters: Raphael and Rosamund. Your students will also compare/contrast Raphael's character from the beginning of the story to the end of the story.
This packet is broken up into 3 sections (Chapters 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6) and each day is set up in the following way:
1. Before Reading- First, the students will be introduced to vocabulary Each assigned reading has only 3 vocabulary words (with definitions). Next, the students will make a personal connection (text-self) so they can relate to what they will be reading.
2. During Reading- Students are told to be on the lookout for specific details to help them prepare for the characterization activity.
3. After Reading- Students will complete an activity on characterization. Day 1- students will characterize Raphael. Day 2- students will characterize Rosamund. Day 3- Students will compare and contrast Raphael from the beginning of the story to the end of the story.
At the end of this activity packet, there is a creative writing activity for the students to complete. The students will choose at least three of the vocabulary words and write their own story. There is also a page for them to illustrate their story.
There is also a test at the end of the packet. Most of the questions are multiple choice, and some questions are short answer.
