I love reading Dahl's "The Landlady" with my middle-schoolers around Halloween, but it can be just a bit challenging for them to follow. I created a visual guide pulling lines from the text and pairing them with images to support and scare as I read. I project it on my board, and it works almost like a picture book. Would work well even with your older, non-struggling readers too for an added treat. Dim the lights and add some spooky background music, and you've got a great Halloween read aloud! Enjoy & Happy Haunting (teaching!).
**I do not own these images or texts, but have assembled them for use in the classroom. **
