Thanks for your interest in this product! This is a scaffolded, application-based worksheet in which students:
1) review the law of conservation of mass and make a connection to a balanced chemical equation through a brief fill in the blank paragraph.
2) Review knowledge of the "anatomy" of a chemical equaton with the reactants, products, coefficients and subscripts (describing in sentence and word form)
3) Apply their knowledge and identify the reactants and products in addition to the number of atoms for each element and summing it up by explaining if the chemical equation is balanced or not.
Please note, this worksheet does not go into depth about the process for balancing a chemical equation. It focuses on teaching students to recognize the difference betwen balanced and unbalanced chemical equations to see if the law of conservation of mass is demonstrated in that chemical equation.
