The Learning Train is an Early Childhood Developmental Learning Visual and Coloring Series geared primarily for Day Care and Kindergarten children. When presented thoughtfully, with demonstrated samples, Eye-hand co-ordination, Coloring, Printing, Letter-Sound Skills and cognitive development are some of the skills that young children may acquire. In The Learning Train – SHAPES, a series of outline shapes (from a Circle, Square, Triangle, Oval, Rectangle(s), Diamond (2 triangles) are on top
of each train 'flat car'. The teacher, parent asks student(s) the name of pointed to shape, or asks a child to point to which shape is a ...(circle, square, etc.)? Then talks about 'everyday objects' that look something like (say, a circle. Examples, such as: sun, clock, wheel, ball, orange are given. No doubt children can cite other objects to become more aware of the world around them.
The child(ren), depending on developmental abilities, are then encouraged to draw a simple 'everyday object' into the blank outline shape, before coloring (print name into bottom name, print box. Blank reproducible draw-in shapes on flat cars are provided for teachers, parents, or creative (most likely kindergarten) children.
The large 11 x 8 ½ sheets with (optional) 3-ring hole format makes for convenient teacher organization and storage with 3-ring binders. In addition, these landscape designed sheets may be scotch taped in a horizontal train display, easily mounted or taped to a classroom wall, white board, bulletin board, etc. and conveniently re-stored in a folder or 3-ring binder with an accordion fold.
