Excited for the Halloween season? We are! My 6th graders LOVE to read this adapted version of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Included in this mini unit pack are several activities focused on the plot and story elements of literature. You will be provided with three formats of text so that you can choose the one that works best for your students! All versions are at a 1100 Lexile.

Additionally there are extra more "in depth" activities designed to focus on vocabulary, mood, characterization, and argumentative writing.

Pre-Reading Vocabulary: A thorough and intensive interactive lesson for pre-teaching key vocabulary words, connotation, and denotation. Designed for 6th grade common core standards, this 2 part lesson includes the following pieces:

- an editable PowerPoint presentation for a guided lesson
- a PDF presentation for a guided lesson
- a copy of the story specifically rewritten for a middle school reader, complete with vocabulary annotations

Mood Words Lesson: Great for teaching the development of mood in the exposition of the story. Designed for 6th grade common core standards, this lesson includes the following pieces:
