The Legend of Sleepy Hollow ~ Headless Horseman ~ is a fun story to teach Reading Comprehension (vocabulary, character analysis, inference, prediction and much more during the Autumn season. This activity is compatible with 3 versions of the story (Headless Horseman children's picture book w/illustrations by Emma Harding, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow-Scholastic Junior Classics- chapter book, or The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - Junior Classics for Young Readers- chapter book. This activity includes a step by step lesson plan with before, during, and after reading tips, vocabulary lists per chapter and character lists for each version/book, information on the author and his home, 14 comprehension questions (multiple choice), a character analysis tool, a "prediction" writing page and many pictures to share with your students about the author, Washington Irving and the town of Sleepy Hollow, NY. Also included, is a map of the area (New York City, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown) so you can also include a touch of social studies within the lesson.
