This lesson can be used as a class lesson or with a group! Help students practice problem-solving independently with this interactive lesson. Students will read The Story of Lucy Lemon which explains and simplifies the meaning of making "lemonade out of lemons." Then, they will work in groups to "make lemonade" out of the lemon they are given! Each lemon, or problem, has 4 possible ice-cold calm choices, usually with more than 1 being a good solution (making them think even deeper!). For extra engagement, I purchase lemonade for students to have at the end (optional). This activity not only helps them remember to problem-solve in a memorable way, but also helps them to realize they can solve some problems on their own, and don't always need an adult to help. This download includes:
•20 lemon cut-outs (10 in color, 10 in BW)
•80 ice solution cut-outs (40 in color, 40 in BW)
•2 Fresh Lemonade signs (1 in color, 1 in BW)
•2 Stories (1 in color, 1 in BW)
•Detailed directions for use
*This lesson is marked for 2nd but may be used for 3rd, however the problems may be a little young. 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade versions to follow soon!*
I hope this product is as helpful for you and your students as much as it has been for mine! My students and teachers request this lesson again and again!
