PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This unit goes along with the book The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies. Students create a Lemonade War Handbook, keeping track of economic terms and key details from the text. They use their handbook to develop their own product, marketing plan and advertisement with a small group!

Included:
Cover Page - Students create their very own book!

Meet the Main Characters - Students record information about the main characters and determine their character traits (sample included).

Lemonade War Glossary - Students record vocabulary that is in the book.

Lemonade Economics - This page includes economic terms listed in the Common Core standards for grades 2 and 3. Students draw pictures to associate the vocabulary with what happens in the book (sample included).

Hints from Jessie - This page includes economic hints from Jessie that are in the book. She reads the book Ten Bright Ideas to Light Up Your Sales. In the book she talks about different points and uses the points to improve her lemonade stand.

Figurative Language - There is a lot of figurative language used throughout the book. Students are to record examples of 3 similes, metaphors, hyperboles, personification and onomatopoeia as they read the book. They can record any 3 of each that they would like.

Reading Comprehension Questions / Activities - 12 pages of drawing activities and reading questions.

10 Tips - At the end of the book Jessie and Evan create a poster that informs people about 10 tips they learned while running their business. Students record their 10 tips on this page.

Marketing Plan - After students have finished the whole book, they develop their own marketing plan in a small group! They come up with a product that they can actually make. Then, they make up a business name / logo / brandmark. They write out a marketing plan (information that they need to include is listed). They also create one advertisement. They can create a commercial, flyer, one-page website or jingle. They present a poster, formal plan (oral presentation) and their advertisement to the class.

Mapping Out Your Business - This page helps kids organize their ideas: company name, product name, target market, logo, brandmark, product and packaging design.
