This set of activities was created to help students understand the meaning of the Lord's Prayer as presented in Luther's Small Catechism. The included teacher guide offers ideas for illustrating each petition.
This packet includes two options to guide your studies - a mini-book and a class set of posters. Depending on the group of students I have, I may opt to use the book (independent work) or posters (small group / partner work). Students keep the books in their book bins to read for a few weeks. If we used the posters instead of the books, then each pair of students works on 1 page of the prayer. We combine all of our work to make one long train of posters that illustrate the prayer from beginning to end. I have included a few ideas for illustrating each petition, however, don’t hesitate to use your own ideas.
Please note that the explanations included are a general overview appropriate for young readers and learners and are not the actual explanations from the small catechism.
