This PowerPoint presentation begins by helping the students understand how tremendous the Lewis and Clark expedition was by comparing it to Neil Armstrong's journey to the moon. The presentation gives students an overview of the land purchase and of the two explorers chosen to explore this vast territory. Finally, I have provided 15 movie questions and a link to the documentary "Lewis and Clark: The Great Journey West." The film ties everything together for the students and really flows well with the presentation!
Here is a short synopsis of movie: "The film relives one of the greatest tales of adventure and exploration in history, as National Geographic brings to life the epic journey of Lewis, Clark, their guide Sacagawea and the brave Corps of Discovery across the land that would become the United States. Now, two hundred years after the launch of this ambitious expedition, experience first-hand the danger and breathtaking beauty of the unknown West as it unfolded before the eyes of Lewis and Clark."
This PowerPoint presentation has everything you need to teach your students about the Louisiana Purchase 1803. Teacher created and student approved! Enjoy!
