This is a quick activity you can use with your students before reading "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T. S. Eliot. The exercise has them fill-in-the-blanks a selection from the poem using either contextual clues, their imagination, or if you choose, a word bank.
Can be used with either the students working alone, or better, in groups.
Leads to some great discussions over the words that Eliot actually chose for the poem. This can easily tie into a lesson on diction, tone, figurative language, or any other of the elements of poetry you may be working with.
Includes two versions -- with and without a word bank. Also includes the answers.
