In this product, you'll receive:
1. Journal questions for the entire novel
-I broke the book down into sections of 2 or 3 chapters at a time. Each journal asks 5 short answer, thought-provoking questions that requires students to use textual evidence to back up their thoughts and ideas. In my class, I used these as the basis for our class discussions.
Total journals: 7
2. An end-of-novel project that you can have students complete individually or in groups. It requires students to use reliable resources to research topics related to the novel, such as the process for investigating a crime scene, researching different cultures' beliefs on the after life, etc.
The end product can be presented in visual format, such as a Power Point or Prezi and requires students to use textual evidence to compare their research topic to the novel.
3. A rubric for the final product presentation
In all, this unit usually takes us about a month. I have had great success using this over the past few years with my Senior Literature class.
