A group of children from a run-down neighborhood set out in search of something colorful, and end up finding a magical bear who is trapped in a cage. After they free him, he rewards them with gifts. It is suitable for all ages.
Several young residents of a shabby neighborhood where everything appears to be gray hear a rumor of colorful clothing left on an abandoned building. They set out on a quest to find the clothing. After they explore a former restaurant, they discover a bear in a cage. They offer the bear food and water, and are shocked to discover it can speak. In gratitude or their help, he provides them gifts to improve their lives.

About my plays:

Using plays in the English classroom:
The experience of dramatically reading and taking part in a play can engage entire classes of today's students, including reluctant readers, bored teenagers and students with short attention spans, in a way that silent reading cannot.
Participation in reader's theater can also greatly aid English language learners in their understanding of English structure and function, provide scaffolded opportunities for speaking to help build confidence, improve speaking and listening skills and enhance comfort level with English language idioms.
Many a teacher has noted the benefits that a communal experience such as performing a play together can have on a classroom as a whole, as well as on individual students. Plays are an ideal activity for building camaraderie and enhancing positive relationships in the classroom, and they are especially well-suited for use on days when students might otherwise struggle to pay attention, such as the days immediately preceding a holiday break.
Through group reading and dramatic performance of these plays, students can work together to develop a greater understanding of plot, character and theme, and can encounter and begin to comprehend such universal human experiences as love and loss. It is the author's hope that these plays will provide such benefits to the students who read and perform them.
