Rhyming words game cards are included with four rhyming words game instructions for "The Magic Hat" by Mem Fox. This is a hands-on activity which is terrific for literacy rotations or fast finishers.
Please note that you will need a copy of the picture book to make the best use of this resource.
There are three different 'twists' in one of the rhyming words games using the "magic hat" or "magic elf" cards for players to either lose their cards, miss a go or have another turn (it is up to the teacher which version is played).
Two different versions of the rhyming words cards are included and teachers can choose the set they prefer most or use both for different literacy groups. The same rhyming words are included in both, they just have different images.
Also included in this resource are writing templates for students to write about their favourite/favorite hats (both U.S. and Australian spelling are included) and different bookmarks to promote/encourage reading.
Ideas for picture books about hats, including games, songs and craft activities can be found on my pinterest board here:
