This is a Reader's Theater for 4 students. It is a fable from Spain. In this script A long time ago the king of Granada decided he was ready to marry. The king created a test to find the best and bravest woman to be queen. Any girl, over 18, was able to take the test. All they had to do was look in the barber’s magic mirror. The mirror would show spots if the woman was not good at heart or had blemishes in her character. There would be the same number of spots as the person had blemishes. No girl was willing to take the test. Many weeks went by. Finally the barber told the king about a shepherdess who would look in the mirror if asked. The king sent for her and she looked in. The mirror was not really magic. The whole thing was a test meant to prove a girl’s bravery and confidence. The shepherdess became queen and they lived happily ever after./ Hace mucho tiempo el rey de Granada decidió que estaba listo para casarse. Pasaron muchas semanas.
We write small group reader's theaters to give students the practice they need to read and speak Spanish fluently. We keep the number of characters smaller so they will work better in centers and to avoid having long wait times between student's lines. Wait time is not reading time and often turns into off task behavior time. Small group reader's theater helps to get students reading more and encourages even reluctant readers to practice fluency.
Our names are Julio Lopez and Melanie Whitesides but our store name is LosDosMaestros and we hope that your students enjoy this script as much as ours did.
We love tying in multiple subjects with reading and have done so. If you like this script please check out some of our others. Most of our scripts are black and white with only a border or an occasional colored picture on front so that they can be photo copied easier for your students. Please let us know what you think.
