Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House
series is great choice for second graders who are ready for chapter books. The first book in the series, Dinosaurs Before Dark
, introduces young readers to Jack and Annie on their adventure to prehistoric times. Make the most of your students' independent reading with activities to check comprehension, revisit vocabulary, and practice grammar. This product can be used in groups, pairs or independently.
Included in this digital download:
• Summary Strips
• R-E-A-D Worksheet
• Grammar Focus: The Simple Past Tense
Students reorder 15 Summary Strips to retell the story chronologically. They go back to the Summary Strips to highlight and categorize irregular and regular verbs in the simple past tense. Then, they complete a R-E-A-D worksheet which presents 20 original sentences which derive from the story and contain one grammatical error each. Students can do one from each column (R-E-A-D) or all 20, depending on their level.
Great for a class with a wide range of reading levels. Also a great choice for ELLs in fourth and fifth grade.
