Product Description
The activities focus on the role that the single letter ‘e’ plays in the development of a language unit. It changes the pronunciation and meaning of a large number of words.
As spelling and identifying words is largely based on the use of grapho – phonic patterns (sound - letter) and their relationships, the rule of the silent letter ‘e’ becomes a major component in the development of spelling and reading.

The activities will enable the students to differentiate short and long vowels by understanding the relationships between the spoken and written forms. Students will learn the different pronunciation and spelling of {‘a’ in hat and ‘a’ in hate} {‘i’ in pin and ‘i’ in pine}
{‘o’ in rod and ‘o’ in rode} {‘u’ in tub and ‘u’ in tube}
to decide when to add the extra e to change the short vowel sound into the long vowel sound.
