The Magic e Rainforest is full of fun and learning. This engaging activity provides practice manipulating words to add and delete a final e. The colorful rainforest creatures which players collect will introduce them to some of the inhabitants of the rainforest - each card is labeled with the name of the animal pictured.
To prepare the Magic e Rainforest, print out the game board and creature cards (color or black and white). Laminate for durability, then cut apart the cards. If you would like students to record their work, print out the recording sheet or use plain paper. You will
need a place marker for each player and one die.
To play, students take turns rolling the die and moving forward that many spaces. If the space has words on it, the player reads the top word, then says the word with an e on the end. The player then reads the second word as it is written, then says the word without the final e. If successful, the player takes the top animal card. If unsuccessful, no creature is earned on that turn. Danger, reward and trade cards add to the fun. When all player reach Finish, the player with the greatest number of unique creature cards is the winner.
Note: This is an updated version of my Cute Kit game, with a rainforest theme, more words, a black and white option, and a recording sheet.
