The Math Workout!
Current brain-based research shows that students need to move about every 20 minutes. Movement helps connect both sides of the brain, enhances learning, refocuses the brain, improves academic performance, and increases cognition.
“Mrs. Kane, can we go run a few laps in the gym?”
Students intuitively know when they need a break. Math Workout combines skills practice with physical activity and 21st century interaction.
I use The Math Workout as a review, skills practice, regular homework or as a learning center activity. This packet contains 6 separate Math Workout Activities with answer sheets. Activities cover number lines, number line addition and subtraction, ordinal numbers, and even and odd numbers.
As a bonus, I included simple I Can Statements.
When my students see a Math Workout assignment, a hearty cheer rings through our room. My class loves doing Math Workout! I hope yours will too! Have fun and get moving!
