This project based learning experience establishes connections of math and science through real-world applications. Students will use math to calculate weight and amount of junk mail received, as well as how much it costs the sender of the junk mail to send and transport it. The science connection comes into play when students calculate the amount of carbon being released into the air based on the transport and distance traveled by the junk mail. This project is appropriate for grades 3-8.
