Have your students take a journey on the Mayflower!
In this 124 page packet, I've included:
Part 1: Posters to hang in your classroom and to use while introducing the Mayflower (real life photographs that show the parts of a the Mayflower, along with important vocabulary).
Part 2: Hook 'Em: These article pages were designed as a way for you to "hook" your students at the beginning of your Mayflower unit. You can display the article pages on your document camera as a whole group or print and display during small group instruction.
Part 3: Differentiated All About the Mayflower Mini-Books - These are differentiated mini-books that can be used during small group instruction. There are three versions. Each version is slightly easier than the last. I wanted to give you options because I know that many of our students come in reading at different ability levels. It is up to you to pick and choose which articles you use with your groups. You can either print in color and laminate or print them in grayscale. Text-Dependent Response sheets follow!
Part 4: Graphic Organizers, True/False Sorting Activity, Vocabulary Books, and Independent Practice Sheets
Some of the sheets include:
Diary of a Pilgrim! Students will write about their journey on the Mayflower in a diary.
Write your own Mayflower Compact (students will work together with a small group to create rules for the Mayflower Compact)
Mayflower Menu (students will write about what they ate while traveling on the Mayflower)
Become a Pilgrim and Talk Like a Pilgrim (this is a list of common names and words that Pilgrims used, students can choose words and write a letter to a friend using some of the Pilgrim vocabulary)
What a Journey (students will map out their journey on the Mayflower)
In addition, I've also included links to some fabulous Mayflower web resources and books!
