This is a set of journal/writing prompts for James Dashner’s The Maze Runner. There is a journal/writing prompt for each chapter of the book, and each is different and covers a lot of ground in common core standards. Students will be asked to use critical thinking, compare and contrast, cite evidence to support claims, analyze characters psyche and actions, make inferences, elaborate on theories, sketch using imagery and attention to detail, use context to identify new or unfamiliar vocabulary, and much, much more! Each prompt changes up the format in order to keep students engaged and participating in class.
*This was originally in Google slides and I project the questions for them on the board for them to fill in to their journals, I don’t hand them out.* It is up to you, either way you will have many great classroom discussions!
