    15 weeks of Distance Learning Visual Art Lessons!

    These lessons were designed and assigned to my 6th through 8th grade Visual Art Students. Each lesson can be easily adapted to all middle school and high school grade levels. Lessons can be short sketchbook assignments or more in depth classroom art projects! Assignments are open ended in nature, encouraging a unique and personal art response from students! I love to draw upon student's interests and choice as much as possible!

    1) Vincent Van Gogh Landscapes Lesson:

    This lesson plan was specifically created for remote teaching/learning for my 6th grade Visual Art Students. I teach Landscapes and Vincent Van Gogh within a simplification drawing and printmaking in the classroom. This Lesson Plan would be a fantastic sketchbook assignment or a more in depth classroom project!

    The Product includes:

    - An introductory to what Landscapes are and various examples of them.

    - Explanation of the basic parts of landscapes.

    - All about Vincent Van Gogh! Information about him as a person, his journey as an
    artist and his style.

    This lesson plan was specifically created for remote teaching/learning for my 6th grade Visual Art Students. This is a sketchbook assignment that I give to them in the classroom.

It really gives students the opportunity to be creative and personal as it is an "All About Me" in fun drawing format !

I will definitely be adding it to my sketchbook list when school returns! This assignment could also be used as a jump off point to a much longer in depth project incorporated with Art History, Art Criticism and Research.

I teach a drawing unit on Value and Form featuring the basic forms in the classroom. Students already knew how to properly shade each basic form before the initiation of this distance learning lesson plan. This lesson provides a very accessible art prompt from objects that are in students own home while still focused on two elements at hand!

Students will pick one of the 6 Artist and one of their artworks provided to complete the Art Criticism questions.

    10) Creative Color Wheel Lesson:

    This lesson plan was specifically created for remote teaching/learning for my 7th & 8th grade Visual Art Students. I teach a painting unit with the Creative Color Wheel lesson as the first classroom project within the unit. Students of all ages can't wait to paint! In the classroom my students are only able to use the primary colors to mix the other 9 colors on the color wheel. I encouraged students to do this at home, however this was not available in all student homes. I also gave students the opportunity to work with other medias such as watercolor and pastels. This lesson is open ended to give much student choice and self-direction while still learning valuable elements of art. I love these two additional resources!

    This lesson plan was specifically created for remote teaching/learning for my 7th & 8th grade Visual Art Students. It also gives students the opportunity to use their own style and genres that they gravitate to!

    12) Scratchboard Technique Drawing Lesson:

    This lesson plan was specifically created for remote teaching/learning for my 7th & 8th grade Visual Art Students. Students create a Scratch-board piece after practice with techniques in pen in the classroom. Students had already practiced these skills in the classroom before the initiation of this distance learning lesson plan. This lesson provides an open ended drawing response using techniques that apply to the image the student will be referencing. Student's submit the image referenced along with their scratchcard drawing to assist with feedback. This can be used as a sketchbook assignment in the classroom, a stepping stone to a larger scratch-board project or a detailed classroom project within itself!
