This is a 20 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on The Middle Ages: Medieval Monks. All the slides are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.
The first Medieval Monks adhered to the Benedictine Rule which was established by St. Benedict in 529 AD. Different orders of monks were also established during the Middle Ages. The major orders of monks were: The Benedictine Monks: the Black Monks; The Cistercian Monks; the White monks; The Carthusian Monks: the silent monks; The Dominican Monks; The Franciscan Monks; and the Augustine Monks, including the Gilbertines
The life of a monk was a commitment for life. It was hard. The life of a monk appealed to many different kinds of people in the Middle Ages. The reasons for becoming a Medieval monk were as follows: to devote their lives to serving God, to live a life in a secure retreat, to escape from a violent world and to lead a quiet and peaceful life.
