The Mighty Ducks is a hit movie that shows true winners play the game the right way. Coach Gordon Bombay carries the guilt of quitting hockey as a young boy because he is taught that if you cannot win then there is no point in playing. Gordon experiences a transformation and helps the young people on his team understand that it is always best to play for the love of the game.
Each of our movie lessons and activities includes response/discussion questions that students can answer on paper or the teacher can use as starters for whole group discussion. In addition, there is a partner/group activity that takes the principles of the movie and asks students to take action and grow in their own lives. Finally, there is a RAFT (Role-Audience-Format-Topic) writing prompt to help students apply their new knowledge.
