Description

This is a 26 page packet that focuses on the phonological awareness skills of syllables, rhyming, and onset-rime blending. The activities in this pack utilize vocabulary from the book The Mitten by Jan Brett. The book must be purchased separately.

How Many Syllables?- Students count the number of syllables, and use Do-A-Dot markers to complete the activity. (worksheet)

Blending Syllables– Students listen to two syllables, and state the word that they hear. (cards and mats)

Recognizing Rhyme– Students listen to two words, and then state if the two words rhyme. (cards and mats)

Generating Rhyme- Students are given a word, and are asked to state a rhyming word. (cards and game board)

Blending Monosyllable Words Onset-Rime– Students listen
to an onset and a rime, and are asked to state the word they hear when the sounds are blended together. (cards and game board)

** All words that are used in these activities are vocabulary words that occur in the book, The Mitten by Jan Brett
