If you LOVE "The Mitten" by Jan Brett and are looking for a unique, exciting way for your students to interact with the story, then this Mitten Retelling Craftivity might be exactly what you need! For a better look, just click on PREVIEW!

This retelling set includes a super cute, easy-to-assemble paper mitten, along with adorable stick puppets that your students can use to tell and retell the story of "The Mitten". It also features an original poem (based on the book). In addition, you'll find a larger, full-color teacher version to use while reading the poem out loud.

To complete the student project, you'll need construction paper, yarn and wooden craft sticks. Students will be using the yarn to "sew" around the edge of the mitten. Sounds tricky, but it's actually really simple... and your kiddos will LOVE IT! Not to mention, the sewing provides some awesome fine motor exercise for those little fingers! I've provided the stick puppet pictures in both color and black-and-white.

When your students are ready to take their mittens home to read to parents, the stick puppets can be stored inside the mitten and it's ready to go!
