After you read a wonderful Ukrainian fairy tale 'The Mitten', you can have fun activities with your child or your students. You can remember the animal characters of this fairy tale with the help of tangram*. This activity includes tangram template and eight animals (a mole, a rabbit, a hedgehog, an owl, a badger, a fox, a bear, and a mouse). Each animal has two pictures: one is easier where you see where each shape goes, and the other is more difficult where your child or student has to use his memory and imagination to use all the shapes to make an animal. Have fun!
*Tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle comprising seven pieces (tans) of three geometric shapes – two large, one medium and two small triangles, one square and one parallelogram. There are many benefits to playing with Tangrams. They can be used to develop problem-solving and logical thinking skills, perceptual reasoning (nonverbal thinking skills), visual-spatial awareness, creativity and many mathematical concepts such as congruency, symmetry, area, perimeter, and geometry.
