Supporting First Nations' Literature in the Primary Classroom
This unit is part of a Julie Flett BUNDLE: Supporting First Nations and Metis Literature in the Primary Classroom - Discovery of Self
This beautiful story, The Moccasins
written by Earl Einarson and illustrated by Julie Flett, describes the unconditional love a foster child experiences in his adoptive home. This unit allows younger students to look for deeper meaning within the story using reading strategies: Connection, Visualization, and Questioning.
Contained within this unit is a class booklet and three other activities, with complimenting student response sheets that may or may not be used, (depending on the age of the students.)
The student response sheets provided come in lined and interlined versions.
To obtain a copy of this book and others like it, I recommend checking out Strong Nations,
an online bookstore supplying indigenous and Native American books. Not only do they have an extensive selection, they provide themed book bundles for all age ranges.
