This product allows students to analyze stylistic choices made by a director that adapts a short story into a film. In this particular case it is the short story "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs.
Students will watch a teacher picked version of the story and have students fill out the chart during viewing. After viewing students will discuss with their partners the components in the chart to gain a full understanding of the changes made, things that remained the same, and why the director chose to make these decisions. After discussion students will complete an extended response question that requires them to analyze how faithful and unfaithful the director stayed to the original story, and ultimately why he made these choices.
