Students will be asked to watch several videos which will provide a detailed retelling of Rosa Parks and her role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. An article with a detailed accounting of this historic civil rights event is also required reading before beginning the webquest. The events which led to the arrest of Rosa Parks, the organization and rallying of the black community of Montgomery to set up the boycott, the rise of Martin Luther King as a voice for African American rights, the ability of the black community to organize carpools and other methods of transportation, the eventual Supreme Court ruling on bus segregation, and the reaction to the end of bus segregation in Montgomery, are all explored in this activity.
