This file contains a video file that you can use to help increase physical activity anywhere in your school at any time. It starts by showing a quick health or safety tip and then contains exercises, and full participation for your school with the help of other colleagues. The purpose of the morning wake-up call is to help increase the students’ physical activity in a day, increase alertness, and supply them with ways to help them be ready for the day. The Morning Wake-up Call is a program that is simple to execute either by yourself or with help so that the students can wake themselves up in the morning if they are tired. It can be done anywhere with little or large space available. It is designed to have students get up and get moving in the morning within their homerooms or any classroom they begin their day in. It’s simple and only takes about 3-5 minutes each morning, but if you perform this over a week – it’s actually almost another 25 minutes the kids are up and moving. It can be done in homerooms while teachers are taking attendance, lunch count, or any other morning activity that teachers perform. It can be incorporated at any grade level k-12. The younger grades can perform easier exercises and the older kids can perform more difficult ones, depending on the age of kids in your building. Administrators love this idea because it not only helps find new ways to get the kids up and become more alert in the morning, but it allows for the teachers to be able to use the program during break times such as during tests or other periods throughout the day the kids are inactive. The morning wake-up call can be done at your desk with multiple exercises, stretches, and poses to help get the students ready for the rest of their day to learn. The idea behind the wake-up call is that you can pre-record a routine and then show it to the school in the classrooms. This tool is great for allowing even the youngest of kids to get excited about seeing themselves on TV teaching others how to exercise. You decide how much time you want to put into it. If you are looking for something to impress your administrators, school boards, or even just try something new to get the kids excited about when they arrive at school then the morning wake-up call is for you. This has helped several teachers begin their mornings with allowing their kids to get up and move. Once you have pre-recorded some of your own it’s easy to just show them at any time during the day, not just in the morning, but at any time during the day. Have fun with it and give the kids something to talk about.
