The Name Game is a song by Shirley Ellis that was a big hit in the 50's or 60's. It has the additional distinction of being a great personalized literacy activity! Note: there are no symbol-supported versions of this resource.
The pen tool of PowerPoint (command p) can be used to write in the student's name (e.g., Shirley)… slash off the first letter or sound to reveal the left-over kernel (e.g.,irley) … then pair that remaining kernel with B-, F- & M- to generate B-irley, F-irley, M-irley within the song. Press esc to exit pen mode.
This resource can be personalized with photo faces of your students. Right click (control click on a Mac) on the existing photo face … then select change picture … to import a photo of one of your students. A student launch page allows students to pick a friend to sing about next. A small sun in the upper right corner allows the program to return to the launch page after singing a student-specific verse.
