The Napping House is a great story to read with young students to help them understand sequence of events as well as addition and subtraction. This product includes character templates for either the teacher or student to use as puppets as the story is read aloud. It also includes a character dot-to-dot page in which the students connect the dots of the characters in the order they are presented in the story to create a picture. Also included in a mini-booklet the students make. Each page of the booklet contains pictures that correlate with the story as well as a tens frame the students can use to help them solve the addition or subtraction problem presented in the story There is also an addition or subtraction number sentence on each page for the students to complete. I have also included an addition and subtraction worksheet that can be used as an assessment. The assessment also correlates with the story, The Napping House. Finally, I have included a fun activity for students to use as they listen to the story being read. As you read the story, they must listen and circle the pictures of the characters as they are introduced in the story. They must be careful not to circle pictures that are not in the story.
This is a fun book that is always a favorite with young students. There are many skills that can be taught from this book. Hopefully you will find it helps you in your classroom as much as it has in mine. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
