If you like read alouds to help supplement ideas into Reading and/or Math, then using the character hat patterns for the book The Napping House can be very useful. These simple hat patterns will help your student to identify and recall story book sequence, ordinality and positional words. For math, they can learn ordinals 1st through 6th, in a fun way, count numbers, and subitize. They can re-enact the story by standing in line as you read the story to them. Ex: "The grandma was the FIRST to sleep on the bed. etc" Included with these great hats, is a description of a lesson plan for the activity. You can also use the hats to retell and sequence the story line for a fun reading comprehesion activity. Remember to print using Landscape if necessary instead of portrait.
