This project is an extremely fun way for students to learn the "nature of science" By using hands-on materials to make their own scientific models, they will try to replicate the working mechanism inside the mystery box. How does it work? Can they find out without looking inside? Good scientists use observations to learn about the world around them. By using the scientific method, students will dig for their own answers to the "Mystery Box".
After this 3 day unit, students will understand:
- What the Scientific Method is and how it is used
- What the “Nature of Science” is
- Why scientists use models to explain hypotheses and theories
