A personal writing project on honest communication has options for both a narrative essay and a graphic novel. The literary essay includes 3 choices of essay topic with rubric. For creative projects, choose from either the Alternate Ending project or the Modernize it Project. Many options to fit the time and skills of your classroom. Rubrics and answer guides included as appropriate. Each item includes a separate overview with deployment instructions and ideas.

The Necklace Reading Activities (Guy de Maupassant): Reading questions in order of the text with answer key. Critical Thinking Question (5) with short rubric and optional paragraph model. Venn Diagrams, Word Webs, and other Graphic Organizers. Several ways to examine and analyze the text.
The Necklace Literary Essay (Guy de Maupassant): Choice of 3 essay topics with rubric. Students will examine the story for specific examples and provide analysis in response to the questions. Includes planning worksheet.
The Necklace Personal Writing Activities: Great for use with the story “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant, either as an anticipatory set or a concluding project. Includes step-by-step prewriting process and rubrics for both a narrative essay and a multimedia project. Students will be considering a time when honest communication was important to the outcome of a situation.
The Necklace Alternate Ending Project: Creative project for use with the story “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant. Students will write a new ending of the story in which Mrs. Loisel admits to losing the necklace. Includes options for narrative writing or graphic novel writing with rubrics.
The Necklace Modernize It Culminating Project: Like many of the classic stories read in English classes, “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant is written and set in the past. The characters do not have many of the modern tools available today. Students will examine the impact of various technologies on the story and retell the story briefly showing the way things would be different if modernized. Rubric included.
