Students will be introduced to identifying reliable sources using internet research, and proper Chicago citation form. Students will use these skills to research Thomas Hooker, the founder or Connecticut, and Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island. They will then use this research in combination with previous lessons on Anne Hutchinson and the Liberties of Massachusetts to answer the question how were religion and government related in the New England colonies. This is a two day lesson potentially more depending on the level of your students and their familiarity with researching and writing argumentative essays.
