The Night Before Easter: Book Companion for Speech and Language Therapy. This 36-page unit is meant to be used along with the book by Natasha Wing. However, this download has many activities that can be used without the book and can address many different speech goals. *Book not included, please buy or borrow from your school library.
Comprehension Cards with pictures (18 cards):
For younger students. After reading the story, students answer WH- questions with picture choices.
For more advanced readers. After reading the story, students answer multiple choice WH-questions without picture choices.
Story Retell Mat and Story Sequencing Pictures (8 eggs):
After reading the story, have students cut out the picture eggs on p.8 and paste them into the story mat on p.7 in the correct story sequence from beginning to end. Practice retelling the story in their own words using the pictures as aids. Send home the worksheet for students to retell story to their parents.
Find the Rhyme (worksheet):
Students practice rhyming by filling the Easter basket with pictures of things that rhyme with “bunny”.
Syllable Count and Color (worksheet):
Students practice counting Easter words with 1-3 syllables.
Articulation Eggs (worksheet):
Students write their sound or words with their sound on each of the eggs for drill practice. Can be sent home as homework.
It’s Spring Time! (worksheet): Students draw, trace, and color pictures of things they see in Spring.
Spring Is When… (worksheet):
Students write description words/pictures in the raindrops to describe things that happen in Spring.
Easter Bunny vs. Tooth Fairy (worksheet):
Students use the Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the two fictional characters.
Describe the Story Easter Bunny (worksheet):
Students recall the physical attributes of the Easter Bunny from the story and describe him as an expressive language activity.
Describe It! Peeps (worksheet):
Students use their senses to describe a marshmallow Peep.
