This download is a speech and language book companion for The Night Before Easter, by Natasha Wing . This is a perfect book to use in the Spring and around the Easter holiday and has so much potential for speech & language goals and literacy activities.

This companion pack includes:


Pgs. 3-4: Vocabulary Cards with pictures and definitions. Print, laminate, and cut then use to introduce vocabulary or as a matching game.
Pgs. 5-8: Level I & II vocabulary worksheets with answer keys.
Pgs. 9-10: Rhyming word cards with pictures. Print, laminate, and cut and use as a matching game or to introduce rhymes.
Pgs. 11-14: Level I & II rhyming worksheets with answer keys.
Pgs. 15-16: Describing game board and game pieces: Roll a dice and move your game piece that number of spaces. Then use a paperclip and pencil to spin on the Spring Bee Spinner (pg. 16). Describe the picture you landed on by using the color on the spinner with the provided key (pg. 16). The first person to reach the ‘End’ space wins the game.
Pgs. 17-18: Describing charts: Write a word in the middle circle and write descriptive adjectives in the surrounding circles. Use page 18 with Sarah Smith’s EET.
Pgs. 19-22: Compare & Contrast: Use the cards on pg. 19 to compare/contrast the objects pictured. Use the charts on the following pages for students to compare/contrast objects of your choosing.
Pg. 23: Object Function: use the sheet to allow students to identify the object functions receptively. This can also be used as an expressive language task (“what do you do with a _______?”).
Pgs. 24-30: Comprehension: 16 YES/NO question cards (pg. 24-25) with visual cues provided to help younger students answer. 16 comprehension question cards (pgs. 26-28) with a visual field choice of three. 16 comprehension question cards (pgs. 29-30) with a field choice of three for older students.
Pgs. 31-32: Story Retell: Story Map (pg. 31) to help with retelling of story details. Story Retell Rubric (pg. 32) with box provided to take notes during the student’s retell of the story and a rubric to rate the student’s retell.
Pgs. 33-34: Sequencing: Print, Laminate, & Cut the pictures on pg. 34. Add Velcro to the sequencing sheet on pg. 33 and the back of the picture cards. Use the cards to show the correct order of the story.
Pg. 35: Positional Concepts: Print & Laminate the sheet. Then, cut out the eggs on the top of the page and use them to target concepts on the grid provided. Example: “Put the egg under the basket.”
Pgs. 36-42: Verb Tense: Print, Laminate, and Cut the verb cards and use a dry erase marker to write the correct verb form for past, present, and future tenses of the verb. Verb Tense level I & II worksheets with answer keys on pgs. 39-42.
Pgs. 43-44: Conversation Starters: Use the conversation starter cards to start discussions about topics in the story, topic maintenance, sentence structure, social skills, or articulation carry-over or use them as writing prompts.
Pgs. 45-46: Articulation: A list of words gathered from the story that contain articulation target sounds including: k, g, f, v, sh, ch, l, th, s, z, r, & l/r/s blends.
Pgs. 47-50: Open-ended Reinforcement: Use these pages with paint daubers, crayons, bingo chips, etc. to reinforce student answers to questions of your choice. Print and laminate and use with play-doh or dry erase markers for added durability
