This fun, interactive activity can be used to address comprehension with the book, “The Night Before Groundhog Day” by Natasha Wing!
To prepare and assemble: Print pages 3-10 of this document. Leave page 3 “as is”. Cut apart small pictures on page 4 and cut them apart from the cover page. Cut apart pages 5-10. Laminate for durability, if desired. Attach the small pictures from page 4 to the empty boxes on page 3 with Velcro. Stack the book pages onto page 3, using the numbers in the upper right corner on each page. Attach these pages together with metal rings.
To use: Have students read through the story, “The Night Before Groundhog Day” by Natasha Wing. As they read through the story, they can use the companion book pages to follow along so that the book is interactive for story retelling. As another option, students can use the book to retell the story after they have finished reading it.
