This Reader's Theater is based on The Night Before Valentine's Day by Natasha Wing! There are roles for four students! Also included are name labels to attach to yarn for a necklace or staple to a piece of construction paper for a headband.
Reader's Theaters are wonderful ways to promote children's love of reading. They also promote reading and speaking fluency!
I love to let the children switch roles after they have learned theirs. This provides them an opportunity to learn new words and new ways to read with expression.
I love to leave the scripts around the room after we have finished with them. The children love to go and pick them up and read them. I see them getting into little groups and reading the "play" all over again if they have completed their work or have free reading time.
You can definitely get a lot of mileage out of Reader's Theaters!
