This is 218 pages of student pages for use with the novel The Nine Lives of Jacob Tibbs by Cylin Busby. Each of the 31 chapters has at least 1-5 comprehension questions, to allow for easy differentiation. At the bottom of each page are suggestions for evidence statements for students to use to start their sentences while citing the text.
***Borderless version included
There are multiple types of writing paper, including some with self reflection rubrics at the bottom. In addition, there are over 20 different skill-based comprehension activities that can be used with ANY text (Not just this one!) and any chapter. These include skills like summarizing, analyzing quotes, letter writing, and more. I have also included 8 after reading prompts for practicing extended responses and test prep poster pages. (genres, text structure, context clues, and text features)
There is a list of additional book activities.
I also included three types of mini journals to be printed double sided, flip on the short side. You can pick and choose the pages that go into the comprehension journal (plenty of questions students can answer while reading this text) and character analysis study journal. Some pages are blank, others have questions to accompany the novel, and others have space for a picture. Adapt to fit the needs of individual students. Choose an even number of pages, print double-sides, flip on the short side.
There are so many ways to differentiate this text! I loved using it as a read aloud for my class. As a read aloud, you can still differentiate by giving individual students their own questions, depending on the skills they need to practice. It can also be used for novel studies independently or in smaller guided reading groups or even for literature circles in your classroom book studies.
