This is the second half of my Twain Unit and comes with a really cool and fun activity for students. The first two days are spent reading the short story, The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, together and answering questions and discussing content, dialect and theme (closely following Pearson Lit 11th grade). Day 3 is the start and construction day of our activity and days 4 and 5 are the races! Students have so much fun with this activity and administrators will love it as well. Show your rapport with a fun activity that stays relevant to the material.
Notes: I would like to bundle this activity with Life on the Mississippi, but I haven't quite figured out how to do that. I am very new to TpT - and as a newbie, if you all have any advice or wish that these activities included something, please provide feedback! Greatly appreciated :)
