Can't we all just get along? This fun resource has 5 different activities that require students to help the Nounfields and McVerbs stop feuding by constructing sentences with correct subject/verb agreement. Activities:
~ Sentence Sorting - students must read sentence cards with missing verbs and sort them into the correct verb pocket. There are 3 ready-made sorts & 1 blank sorting mat/sentence card sheet.
~ Cut-and-Paste Activity - students must cut out verb boxes at the bottom of the page and glue them into the correct sentence. There are 3 ready-made worksheets, &1 blank template that allows you to write in your own verbs & sentences. These are great for interactive literacy notebooks - just have kids cut out the sentence "boards" & puzzle pieces, assemble, then glue down in their notebooks.
~ Board Game - students draw a game card, read the sentence, then decide which verb best completes that sentence.
~ Crossword Puzzle - 2 different puzzles are provided (one is easier than the other). The target words for the puzzle are verbs that are missing from the sentence clues.
~ Sentence Writing Activity - students must use a set of given verbs to write sentences with correct subject/verb agreement. There are 2 ready-made worksheets & 1 blank worksheet that allows you to write in verbs of your choice.
Designed for visual/kinesthetic learners, these activities will work well for literacy centers and/or guided reading groups. Let me know if you have any questions!
