Ordering Rational Numbers: Combine your students' knowledge of fractions, decimals, percents, integers, mixed numbers, improper fractions, positives, and negatives into one big challenge!
Working in teams or as a whole class, your students will compare and order the different types of numbers in all different formats from least to greatest. Two different difficulty levels are included, so you can either use both or differentiate easily.
When the challenge is complete, a quote will be revealed for easy checking. Then, students analyze their strategy. They discuss their approach and compare and improve upon the methods they used to order the cards.
Using the included worksheet, your class will have a chance to discuss their strategy and see how different students approach the task differently.
Here's what's included:
-- A “basic” ordering activity containing 42 full-page cards (positive & negative decimals, integers, basic fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions)
-- A separate, more challenging ordering activity containing 45 full-page cards (positive & negative decimals, integers, percents, more difficult fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions)
-- Smaller versions of both activities (9 cards per page)
-- Black and White versions of both activities
-- A worksheet to accompany each activity in which students analyze their strategy for the activity. (They also record the quote that appears from ordering the cards correctly.)
