Description
This is one of my very favorite holiday activities! The children listen to music and illustrate a classic holiday story!
Why use The Nutcracker Story for Visualization, Summarizing, and Illustration? Brain research tells us that having the children illustrate a story brings a deeper understanding. It encourages visualization of the characters and the setting, thinking of the sequence of the story, and summarizing the important parts.
How it works: This resource involves classic holiday literature, classic holiday music, and comprehension skills combined! Use the famous story and music to encourage visualization, sequencing, and summarizing of this famous holiday story! Children (or adults) read the meaning of each part of the story. Then the children listen to the music while illustrating that part of the story.
What’s included: This is a minimal prep activity! Just run off the 8 pages back to back and staple to make a “Nutcracker booklet” for the children to read and illustrate. There are also suggestions for classic music for listening while the children illustrate.
