Pg. 3-5 The Noun Tree – trim the tree with nouns – copy the tree onto green construction paper, copy off the ornament page, color the nouns according to whether they are people/animals, places, or things – cut the ornaments out and glue them on the tree
Pg. 6-8 Adjectives – a foldable book that has you circling, writing, and coloring adjectives about some of the characters – 2 choices one with Clara and one with Marie
Pg. 9-21 The Nutcracker Story Structure – a craft and story activity – this Nutcracker is BIG and holds a story structure book that you put together, color and fill out – copy all the patterns onto the appropriate colored paper, glue red jacket and black legs together first, add hands, face, belt, and the blue pants on top of the black legs next, last glue bottom of boots, gold accessories, hat, facial features, cotton, and your choice of hat – make sure the beard is not so long that you can not turn pages of the book when you add it – see images for an example – copy story structure pages A and B back to back, cut down the middle, staple it to form a book, and glue it to the Nutcracker
Pg. 22-28 Ballerina/Sugar Plum Fairy see pictures on how to put together – copy patterns onto construction paper, cut out, fold shirt/top in half and cut both sides out at the same time – do not cut where shoulders are joined – slightly curl head and insert through the head opening in top – lift top and glue torso and legs between shirt/top flaps – color face, color shoes on, add hair by cutting it, and curling it or accordion folding it – glue hair to back and front of dancer – attach skirt and staple it so that it sits on hips, add glitter – can add a hole and yarn to head to hang if needed
Pg. 29-39 If I Danced in the Nutcracker – copy pages A and B back to back – choose a male or female dancer – cut out box, cut out foot wheel – attach the wheel behind the window through dots, color – Who would you want to be in the Nutcracker and why – 3 choices of writing paper
