Product Description
The Outsiders Short Constructed Response Questions give your students a jump start on state test practice while reading a novel they love! This resource contains 12 different prompts, one based on each chapter, that are sure to have your students practicing Common Core-based skills while also getting in the habit of writing responses in the manner required on state tests.

This Product Contains:

1. TWELVE CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE ASSESSMENTS – Students respond to a question based on their reading of each chapter of The Outsiders. The topics are varied, rigorous, and reflect the Common Core Reading Standards. Each question requires students to make an inference and then support it with text-based examples and details.

2. A TWO-POINT RUBRIC – Each assessment contains a rubric printed at the bottom of the page for easy grading. Students are reminded of the requirements while they are writing their response! The rubric is written in student-friendly language, with 2-1-0 scoring similar to most state rubrics.

3. ANSWER KEYS – A full answer key for each Constructed Response Question provides both the inference required by the prompt and also a list of supporting details and examples that would be acceptable in a student response.

4. TEACHER GUIDELINES - Specific steps for using the assessments with students as well as scoring tips are included.
